Our cat Pouncy had a bad itching problem where he would lick and scratch so much on his legs that it left bare spots. The vet recommended L-Lysine, and that worked wonders, so we got this NOW Pet Health, L-Lysine Supplement. His fur has regrown and he doesn't constantly scratch any more. We've been using L-Lysine for a couple years now, mixed into his wet food. The dose we've been giving his is about 275mg mixed into his food.

This formula contains L-Lysine, but also has Taurine, Vitamins B and E, and some herbal additives:

It's easy to give the right amount with the included scoop. The only thing I'm not sure of is the recommended dosing. It says the serving size is 3g (which would be 40 servings per container), but the number of scoops depends on your cat's weight? Minus 1 star for not being more specific about serving size vs. scoop number vs. cat weight. Quality seems good - the powder is very fine has no offensive smell. It blends in with wet food very well. Pouncy is about 12 lbs, so I add 2 scoops to his wet food. He seems to love it -- he eats the whole portion, where in the past he will eat 1/2 and then come back later for the rest. We'll see how effective it is over the NOW Pet Health formula of just L-Lysine, but I assume the added vitamins and herbals will only increase its effectiveness.

Absolutely excellent supplement they love when I add it to their food they eat it right up. It almost adds a treat like sustenance to their regular dry food - so I follow the serving instructions and add that amount to the top of their dry food and then I add some water and mix it all up, let the food sit for like 15 minuets so it soaks up the water a bit and then give it to my cats and they love it! Super easy to get the cats to eat it they LOVE it! I also notice they are more active and happy. They have a good appetite when eating and they don��t throw up the food like they sometimes do. Highly recommend.

All my cats were exchanging the same cold. My vet suggested L-Lysine and I placed it on the food and in the dry food. With in a week there was a marked in improvement in all the cats. I will continue to use this on a regular basis.

My cat has an autoimmune condition called pododermatitis or "pillow paw". We have added L-lysine to his wet food for years to help reduce the flares that result in bleeding all over the floor. L-lysine was recommended by our vet. When we found this brand we noticed the description says it is chicken flavored to we decided to give it a try. I was pleased that the bottle was sealed well. I did not personally taste to verify the chicken flavor; however, my fur baby seems quite excited when mealtime rolls around now. He certainly likes the change to this brand. I don't expect any changes to his pillow paw because of the switch, but I will update this review in a few months if there are any. Otherwise, Aslan gives this product the full "paws up" review.

One of the most important factors to consider when buying cat supplements is the taste as my cats are very picky. I'm happy to say that my pickiest cat was willing to eat their Lysine, when mixed with their wet food. There was no issue with mixing this in (as this was easy to fold into the wet food, pate, with a fork). There is no chemical smell and there is a yeast/chicken scent to the Lysine, which I think is attractive to cats' appetite.

So far, it seems to be helpful in decreasing the frequency of my cats getting weepy eyes and nasal discharge, so I would say this is a win in effectiveness.
